What is the minimum number of guests required to host a wedding at your venue?

80 guests is our minimum.

What is the maximum number of guests that your venue can accommodate?

Our venue can accommodate up to 425 guests.

What is the rental fee?

The hall rental is built into the price per person.

Is there a cake cutting fee?

We do not charge a cake cutting fee when late-night stations and sweet tables are included as part of the menu.

Is there a corking fee?

No, there is no corking fee.

Can we hire our own entertainment or do we have to book yours?

We offer referrals but by no means do we impose DJ companies or bands on our Clients;             entertainment companies are selected and hired by the Clients.

Is your A/V mandatory?

MGBC speakers are mandatory as our speakers extend into the lobby, restrooms and bridal suite. This way, Guests do not miss any announcements or speeches. Vendors may provide specialty lighting so long as the equipment is cordless. Vendors must also provide their liability insurance when             providing their own equipment on site.

Is your A/V included in the price?

A/V costs are additional.

Are we required to hire a tech for the A/V?

We have a team of trained technicians that solely operate the MGBC equipment; there is no need to outsource.

Can we bring in our own decorator?

Absolutely! We offer referrals, but do not impose any decorators on our Clients.

Are there any limitations?

No pinning, taping or fixing of materials to our existing materials, such as drapes, standard backdrop, wallpaper and/or walls. We also do not permit confetti or bubbles.

Are the standard linens just white?

We offer a selection of 9 different colours for standard linens and approximately 30 colours for napkins.

Can we use real candles in the space?

Absolutely! However, we do not permit open flame so votive holders are mandatory.

Can rose petals be used?

Yes, of course!

When can decorators set up for a wedding?

MGBC does not book more than one event per ballroom per day. Therefore, decorators may arrive as early as 10:00 a.m. to commence with set-up. Decorators may set up the day prior (within office    hours) in the case that it is available.

Does MGBC have liability insurance or do we need to apply for insurance?

MGBC is insured; additional insurance on behalf of the Client is unnecessary.

Can we host a ceremony at your location?

MGBC can host on-site ceremonies within the same ballroom as the reception.

Does MGBC feature an outdoor area?

No, we do not.

Do you provide cake-cutting utensils or do we need to provide our own?

We provide the cake-cutting utensils. Clients provide their own only when they want to include    engraved ones for symbolic purposes.

Will we be able to specify the house lighting preferences (dimming, etc.)?

Absolutely!

Are deposits refundable?

No, they are not.

What time do we need to vacate the premises? Is 1:00am the cap?

It depends on the event, but the duration for weddings is typically the following:

5:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Do we have to seat all guests at tables of 10?

Definitely not! We offer different dimensions of round tables so that we can comfortably accommodate a mix of 8, 10 and 12 guests per table.

Does your venue offer booster seats or high chairs for children?

Yes, we offer high chairs free of charge.

What’s the deadline on food selection, seating charts, etc.?

We detail with our clients approximately 3 months prior to Event Date; seating charts along with   special dietary requests are due 10 days before the Event Date.

Do you offer a food tasting?

Yes, of course! We have been putting on an Annual Menu Tasting Event for years. The event is a  major production that we organize, and it allows our Clients to sample approximately 15 entrées.

Do you permit outside caterers?

Yes, from Sunday to Friday dates only – outside caterers are not permitted on Saturdays. A few stipulations govern the hall rental booking:

  1. A minimum requirement of 200 guests must be guaranteed upon booking.
  2. There is absolutely no cooking in our kitchen; our catered dishes must arrive on the premises “ready-to-serve”; MGBC will store in warmers and serve in chafing dishes.
  3. MGBC staff serves the catered dishes; outsourced staffing is not permitted.
